If you spend any time browsing social media, you inevitably encounter an influencer. You can sniff out these obnoxious clout chasers from a mile away. They will say or do anything to go viral, so they can successfully avoid working for a living.
Influencer culture has had a negative effect on our world. Rampant stupidity reigns whenever an influencer creates or chases a new trend. They seem to take pride in showing off a poor education and a lack of common sense through their photos and videos. Sometimes, their behavior even breeds lawlessness and violence.
My latest poem explores what makes the annoying cookie-cutter creature known as an influencer.
Punchy videos. Colorful photos. Littered with hashtags. Sharing a common tale. Sophomoric skits. Outlandish stunts. Chasing all hot trends. Riding a fleeting wave. Likes multiplying. Follows climbing. Simping for subscribers. From cradle to grave. Staged is new real. Content is identity. Pride, intelligence, soul. Fresh swag for sale.
