Introducing the protagonists for my serialized horror novella.
Snow Dragon makes its official debut on July 23rd. The first episode of the 10-episode serial will be published on Sunday. Subsequent Snow Dragon episodes will be released every Sunday through the end of September. Last week, I introduced the titular monster and discussed the legend forming the backbone of the narrative. This week, a special edition of character corner examines the three co-protagonists of my horror novella.
Evan Duggan
Evan is a wildlife biologist who works at a Colorado Division of Wildlife field office in Deer Falls. He fell in love with the natural scenic beauty of Deer Falls and moved his family to the small town after only four years of working with the Division of Wildlife. Evan often acts as a consultant with the local sheriff’s office on cases involving wild animal attacks. Evan is a voracious reader outside of his day job. He gravitates toward history books, wildlife books, and biographies of famous people. Evan played tennis in high school and enjoys playing against his wife and his kids whenever he gets a chance. He is courageous and helpful, but he also can be too stubborn and gets easily frustrated and angry when things go wrong. Husband to Marie and father of three children — Matt, Hannah, and Casey.
Marie Duggan
Marie hosts a true crime/horror podcast which chronicles supernatural beings and events in the Rocky Mountains. Deer Falls and its lore are often given a special focus in her podcast. She is fascinated with mythology and folklore. Podcasting is a way of living out a childhood dream of being a TV news anchor that she gave up on following after getting married. Marie is kind, warm, and caring. She is also prone to bouts of impatience and anxiety. Like Evan, she loves to read books and reads to unwind when she’s upset. She favors horror novels or mystery novels. Marie is also an avid swimmer and kayaker. She loves spending summer days at secluded mountain lakes. Wife to Evan and mother of three children — Matt, Hannah, and Casey.
Casey Duggan
Youngest son of Evan and Marie Duggan. Casey first appeared as a key supporting character in Pandora Reborn. He’s a freshman at Deer Falls High School. Casey is a shy outcast who is bullied by several classmates. He owns an undying love for Star Wars and Indiana Jones. Frequently, Casey daydreams about being an x-wing pilot, a jedi, or a globetrotting archeologist. These fantasies offer an escape from his dreary life. He also loves comic books and puzzles and enjoys riding his bike. His mom’s interest in the paranormal has rubbed off on him. Casey embraces various supernatural conspiracy theories and paranormal events as fact by the time he starts high school. He is soft spoken around strangers but is talkative around friends and family.
Snow Dragon is a companion prequel to Pandora Reborn, set three years before the events of that novel. It expands upon some supernatural lore I introduced in my debut novel. Pandora Reborn is currently available at major booksellers worldwide.
