I’ve never visited an actual haunted house.
That’s probably an unexpected confession for an author who enjoys writing horror stories. But I’ve never had a chance to hang out in one of those dark, spooky places. It’s on the ol’ bucket list. I do wonder what it would be like to spend a night or two in a haunted house.
Would I see a ghost or multiple ghosts?
Would I witness random objects get tossed around?
Would I find cryptic messages written on the walls?
Would the haunted house live up to the hype?
My latest poem is inspired by haunted houses, written from the perspective of one being haunted. If you read this before bedtime, don’t say you weren’t warned.
Darkness flees from light. Wrong will be made right. Two reassuring facts, Inspiring desperate hope, In a terrifying world. I tell myself these things, Even while my soul sings, A song of torment. Shadows arrive in swarms. Angry ethereal wasps. Monsters straight from hell, Choose this place to dwell. Lurking inside mirrors. Behind closed eyelids. Ruling both sight and sound. Tremble, scream, and weep. It never feels safe to sleep. Fear crawls like spiders, Spinning endless sticky webs. Trapping me as chosen prey. Nightmares stake their claim, Promising ice or flame. Terror is a constant companion, While navigating moments, Inspiring cautionary scary stories.

In a terrifying world”
Have stayed in 2 haunted houses. Don’t recommend it 👻 😱 😁
However, they did inspire a couple of my stories so not all bad!
