Ever experience a day where you wish you could hit a reset button and start over? I suspect all of us have felt this way at one time or another. Life likes to throw curve balls at us and so often we end up getting hit by the pitcher.
My new poem details how life’s unexpected challenges are the true monsters - not a grotesque creature you think might be lurking in the shadows
Real monsters do not inhabit closets or conceal themselves under a child's bed. They stalk you in wide open spaces daring you to stop them from their attack. Monsters can take on any form they choose. Whatever form proves most destructive to you or to treasured family and friends. That charts the path for inflicting your torment. You are not fast enough to outrun these monsters. You are not clever enough to hide from their eyes. Escaping their clutches is an impossible dream. Resisting their designs is a feverish hallucination. How do you battle a relentless enemy who understands how to break your body and crush your spirit in one master stroke? This is how a monster lives up to their name. Monsters don't simply lurk hidden in the dark. They bring the billowing darkness to you. Once it swallows your light like a storm cloud, You are trapped – within the monster's grasp. Say farewell to that misguided, empty hope of reclaiming remnants of your former life. Everything on this side of time is different. When a true monster claims you as its own.
