Samak Press is taking a huge step forward in 2025.
One major goal in my writing journey has involved establishing a thriving indie press where original compelling stories are shared. I want Samak Press to become a vehicle for showcasing indie authors who are ignored by mainstream publishers and spotlight their stories.
A pair of new upcoming anthologies will help me better realize this vision.
Samak Press will publish two multi-author anthologies in 2025. One anthology will feature a dozen horror stories while the other anthology will feature a dozen science fiction tales. Each short story chosen for these anthologies aims to be the type of story you’ll want to read again and again.
Both anthologies will center on specific themes —
Horror anthology
Our first Samak Press horror anthology is titled Feral Lands and will feature stories set in isolated places. These isolated spots could encompass anything from a wilderness hiking trail to an abandoned ghost town. When characters face danger in these far-flung places on the fringes of civilization or outside civilization, what will they do? Monsters and killers produce greater fear when you’re facing them alone, many miles removed from meaningful help.
I love sticking characters in isolated places in my own horror stories, so the theme associated with Feral Lands is a natural for me. Submissions for the anthology are currently open through October 31, 2024. A complete set of submission guidelines are posted at Samak Press.
Science Fiction anthology
Our first Samak Press science fiction anthology, currently untitled, will feature first contact stories set on alien worlds. Forget your standard stories of aliens visiting humans on Earth. These tales will introduce you to strange alien species and take you to unique planets existing beyond the limits of ordinary. Will first contact be an avenue for fostering peace and illumination? Or will it breathe life into an unforeseen nightmare? These stories will explore every part of the first contact spectrum.
First contact stories form the backbone of my science fiction tales. From Alien People to Hollow Planet, I love seeing how everything plays out — both good and bad — when characters face that scenario. Submissions for the sci-fi anthology will open later in September and full submission guidelines will be posted at Samak Press.

Both anthologies published through Samak Press will be available in eBook, paperback, and hardcover formats. I also hope to produce audiobook versions, but that will hinge on successfully raising enough funds through Kickstarter or another avenue to hire a professional narrator. I’ll keep you all posted with updates on any future Kickstarter projects related to these anthologies.
Which 2025 anthology are you looking forward to reading the most? Let me know in the comments.
