Holidays are made for giving. And I love it.
A spirit of generosity permeates the holiday season. Many good people throughout the world focus their hearts and minds toward helping others in need. Seeing acts of kindness helps restore faith in humanity when the awful things we witness amid the 24-hour news cycle threaten to extinguish it forever.
I’m doing my part to help further this spirit of giving during the holidays through another Samak Press Gives Back charitable drive.
A Good Cause
This year, Samak Press will once again help animals in need.
Through my Samak Press Gives Back initiative, I will donate a portion of my fiction writing income for all of December to the Best Friends Animal Society — an awesome charity dedicated to helping homeless pets find their forever homes.
Anyone who knows me knows I love animals. They bring joy into my life and brighten an otherwise dark world.
From a young age, animals have been my treasured friends and companions on life’s journey. These wonderful creatures need to be loved as much as they show love to us. Every animal deserves to feel safe and happy. It is tragic to see innocent cats and dogs go hungry, be homeless, and suffer abuse at the hands of evil humans.
Supporting the Best Friends Animal Society is a natural outgrowth of a life spent helping homeless animals. Chloe, the cute tabby cat who is the Strange New Worlds newsletter’s official mascot and model for the Samak Press logo, was a homeless kitten I found trapped inside a woodpile. Some heartless person abandoned her to die before I found Chloe and rescued her. My dad soon adopted little Chloe, and she has remained a treasured pet and friend for a decade.
Since that time, my family has rescued other abandoned cats, including Ash and Ren, who’ve also become cherished pets and friends.

Spreading the Word
My planned donation will encompass 50% of all my net earnings in December. I want to make a meaningful difference for animals in need rather than a token donation.
Funds for my donation will be drawn from:
net royalties from all sales of Samak Press books and eBooks in December.
net income on editing and proofreading or other author services purchased through Samak Press or my official author website.
net revenue from new paid subscriptions to the Strange New Worlds or The Indie Life newsletters on Substack.
net revenue from new paid subscriptions to my official Patreon account.
tips to my ko-fi account.
I invite readers of this newsletter to join me in spreading the word concerning this Samak Press Gives Back initiative. I cannot help our animal friends this holiday season without your assistance. Please tell your family, friends, neighbors, and your social media connections about this initiative. Suggest they purchase one or more of my books as a holiday gift. Encourage them to become a paying subscriber to one of my newsletters or my Patreon or to leave a tip on Ko-fi.
Every little bit will make a big difference.
There are many available purchase options for my books or eBooks:
Paperbacks, hardcovers, and eBooks for all stories can be purchased direct from the Samak Press website.
eBooks for all Samak Press stories can be purchased direct from Payhip.
Select paperbacks and hardcovers are available to purchase from the Samak Press Bookshop on Bookshop.org.
Purchase links for major retailers can be found on my Amazon author page, on my Bookbub author page, at my official author website, or on the front page of the Strange New Worlds newsletter.
My hope is that through our combined efforts we can make a difference in saving the lives of many animals during this holiday season. I raised $51 in 2023. This year, I hope to eclipse $100. Please help me make it happen. I appreciate you joining me on this journey and supporting this cause.
God bless you all. Happy Holidays!
I love what you are doing for Best Friends. I am a monthly supporter to them. I will share this with others and check out the books.
Great cause John, I'll check out your publications. I'm also an animal lover.
