Do you ever feel like the whole world has turned against you?
We’ve all experienced such a moment in our lives. A moment where friends suddenly turn into foes. A moment where we are humiliated or bullied by our peers with no escape in sight. A moment where grief consumes your soul as a lost love tears your whole life asunder.
Whispers from the Void is a poem reflecting on the true monster that’s lurking in the darkness — the challenge of enduring harsh moments created by a cruel world.
An empty shell. A rotting tree stump. Shards from a mirror. Is this what I am to you? The pond always ripples from your smooth stone. Skipping only a second, before plunging deep. Broken puzzle pieces. No reassembly required. Cooling reddish embers. Breathing smoke, but no fire. Who fears an angry ghost fluttering from room to room? Color me a neon skeptical. Fear assumes a darker form. Free to laugh at darkness because I already curse light. Unseen monsters can't devour what you already stole from me.
