I still haven't managed to come up with a good elevator pitch for my novel. I know I need something, but nothing I try seems to hit the mark.

I know the feeling. Creating my own elevator pitches takes a ton of thought and effort. Ironically, I think writing an elevator pitch is tougher than writing the novel itself in some respects. It's so difficult to distill a complex story with fully realized characters down to a sentence or two that truly reflects the essence of the story. Once you hash out an elevator pitch, though, I found it does make it easier to identify your true audience and market your story to those specific readers.

Yeah, I can definitely see the benefits. I just dread the process! It really is harder than it seems. But you've reminded me that I should work on it some more...
