Thanks for the shoutout, John!! Writer’s block for me is usually when I feel like I’m being productive with other things like organization but procrastinating the actual writing process. Happens a few times a year for about a month before I can overcome it.

You're welcome. Happy to spotlight your bookstore and substack. :)

I know what you mean in regards to writer's block. If I get too bogged down in marketing ( a necessary evil for authors), I end up siphoning away my creativity. I always work on trying to strike a balance between organizational tasks and the creative side of things, but it's easier said than done at times.

Never heard the expression "plantser" before, but I love it! That describes me perfectly. Seems like we get the best of both worlds, especially when it comes to those creative roadblocks.

I confess I found the term in an article I read elsewhere. I immediately adopted it as a descriptor for how I approach storytelling. I'm inclined to agree with you on plantsers getting the best of both worlds. If you have at least a general story road map for your characters, it's easier for them to reach their narrative destination. At the same time, it doesn't hurt to take the scenic route where it serves the story development better. :-)

Plantser is definitely me. I’ll be writing and suddenly my character will decide to do something else. “Didn’t see that coming! Hah”
