See, this is why I hope we never have to meet aliens, ever. Eggs, pods, orbs. Just don't touch anything and humanity will survive... Right? This filled me with dread like poor Violet. How do you outmanouvre something that's 3 steps ahead? I enjoyed your Sci Friday story!

Thank you, Hanna! Those aliens are a crafty bunch. I may have their species reappear in a future story or two down the road.

A good read. It kept you guessing what was going to be found. I would like to know what happens next.

Thanks! I plan to revisit the aliens introduced in this story in a future story or two. There's definitely more that needs to be told concerning them.

I’m wondering if humanity is getting what it deserved. Were they an interstellar bully?

In my Alien People Chronicles universe where Outcasts is set, humanity (aka Earthians) has cultivated an unsavory reputation for being violent, disruptive, and unpredictable. Many of the Earth colonies mentioned briefly in the story settled on inhabited planets where they pushed aside native alien races to expand Earth's sphere of influence within the galaxy.

Yeah, I got that impression from your world building here. I like the distinction your two characters make: one says most aliens are peaceful, the other thinks that’s because they’re afraid of humans. Great read
